Camp Westminster has been chosen again... for Summer Dreams 2008!
What is Summer Dreams? Each spring, the Detroit Free Press Charities administers a campaign called "Summer Dreams" to help summer camp programs. All matching money is provided by the Skillman Foundation. They choose to support programs that serve the children and youth of southeastern Michigan, with a specific focus on Detroit. Camp Westminster has been chosen for 8 years in a row now!
How does it work? These 2 foundations match dollar for dollar every single donation made to Camp Westminster. It doubles the money! Just write a check directly to "Children First" and put "Camp Westminster" in the memo. (NOTE: If you make your check out directly to Camp Westminster, the money will not be matched!) Send your check to: Camp Westminster Children First 17567 Hubbell, Detroit, MI 48235. We will submit it to the appropriate place to receive the credit.
What does CW intend to use this money for in 2008? Our goal this year is $43,000 which will be used for camperships and other needed program items. We plan to purchase minnow nets, two yurts, sailboats, and other items to keep the program at Camp top notch!
When should I donate? Now! The matching money is only available for a limited time- usually for about 6 weeks, beginning May 1! So, send in your check during May to help CW out!
